Photo Requests

For photo requests, please contact the photo department of the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt using the contact form below.

Please provide us with the following information:

• Precise description of the object

• Inventory number or, if unknown, a bibliographical reference

• Intended use of the image

• Required quality of the image

Requests for photographs are initially free of charge. The requested images will be available to you online for download.

In the event of increased expenses, such as new photographs, extensive photo requests, data delivery via data carrier, we will inform you in advance of any costs incurred.

Unless noted otherwise, all photos are available free of charge under the Creative Commons licence CC BY-SA 4.0.

This licence enables you to modify, transform and incorporate the photos into new works and distribute them commercially, as long as you give appropriate credit to the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt and share the photo or derivative works under the same license. In return, the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt expects to receive a complimentary copy of each publication or, if used online, a hyperlink to the website.

Third parties’ rights remain unaffected, in particular the copyright of the work or personality rights of people depicted. Before using the images, you as the user must clarify possible third-party rights yourself and obtain any necessary permission for use.

The rights to Block Beuys are represented by VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn. A permission to use a photo must be obtained prior to publishing.
